Mikita:

I'm your host, makita. I just want to thank you so much for sharing your time, your space and, of course, that amazing energy you bring to each and every episode, and I'm just so thankful to have each and every one of you with me to being a part of this amazing community. I would have never thought when I first started this podcast three years ago that, honestly, that it would still be up and going. You know, you start sometimes you start something and you have this amazing hope of what you think it would look like and feel like and, honestly, it is nothing what I expected, what I thought. It is even better, to be honest, than anything that I could have dreamed of, and I'm just amazingly grateful each and every time I have a chance to hit that record button and show up, and I just love the love that I feel from you guys to see people out in the street. They're like, oh my gosh, I listened to this episode, I love it. Thank you so much. You know like you hit home. So I'm internally grateful for each and every one of you.

Mikita:

But you know, as we end the season of letting go, I am sure, like I know, when we first started the new year and I was sitting down with so many amazing people and we were talking about this idea of letting go and to be full circle here now at the end and I'm just like, wow, what an emotional rollercoaster had this has all been, and I'm so glad that I was able to share the journey with you guys, to be in the ride with you as things were happening and unfolding for me, like we were having these conversations in real time. Now, some of the things I didn't talk about directly as they happened, because what I've learned is that in order to have conversations around certain things, that you have to first be able to heal from it and learn from it and grow from it, and then you're able to articulate the feelings, the emotions, and to hold space for the next person. It's hard to have conversations about something that you are still healing from and dealing with and you don't really understand everything, the emotions that you're feeling. It's really hard and I thank you so much because not only am I able to hold space for you guys, but y'all are also able to hold space for me in these times as well and allow me the space to share the stories and share the insight and what I've learned, because, honestly, I'm a very private person, I'm such an introvert, so this allows me an opportunity to be honest, to just be myself, to be me, and that's the one thing I love about it is that I can just be open, honest and know that I'm surrounded in a safe space by people that get it, that lived it, that are me, not necessarily know what that looks and feels like, but can definitely identify with the emotion that goes with it. So that you know, sometimes we don't necessarily have the experience, but we definitely have the empathy to understand.

Mikita:

So, as we wrap up this letting go series, I am on the verge of actually moving. So I am packing up my home studio and we are moving and I'm super excited about it. Like this is like so exciting and I'm looking forward to it. But we all know moving is so stressful and it just it's a lot and I didn't realize how much stuff I accumulated. You know like, oh my gosh, I have so much stuff and what I'm really trying not to do is not get overwhelmed by all the stuff and to just enjoy the process and just flow.

Mikita:

You know I'm not necessarily a flowy type of person. I like to have order and structure and know, like this is what's going to happen on this day, this is going to happen that day, and plan everything out. And unfortunately, life does not work that way. We can only plan so much before. Things just kind of naturally happen on its own and we can either go with the flow or try to resist the oncoming tsunami and still get swept away.

Mikita:

So my idea is to just sort of be okay and to remember to flow and also, as we talk about letting go, to let go of this idea that I have to control everything. If you're a person like me, when everything feels uncertain, you try to control all the other little pieces around you so you can feel like you have control of what's happening. And the truth is it's not real control, it's just this idea that we tell ourselves. It's just this idea that we tell ourselves. So my goal is to flow and to be happy and because this is a very exciting time and I'm super excited, I will try to share some of this with you, as if you're friends with me on Instagram and Facebook. I will definitely try to do a little videos and share this journey of process of as I pack all this stuff up and get in this process of moving things and I'm going to have a bigger office and that's I think that's the biggest thing that the studio is definitely my studio room is going to be bigger. Biggest thing the studio is definitely my studio room is going to be bigger. Right now it's a little small office room that's upstairs that I have and now I'm going to have this big room. So, like, I'm so excited about that and I'm these beautiful island where the countertops are just so pretty and I'm just thinking about all the things that I can bake and no, I'm not a baker.

Mikita:

I have, just over the last couple of years, I've really experimented with like baking and cooking and doing homemade cakes and cookies and all that stuff, and I just love it. It's a great way to relax and de-stress and it's also a great way that I can kind of control, like, what's in the ingredients and I can substitute different things that don't necessarily agree with me, like they used to when I was young. So I like that idea of if I'm cooking it myself, if I'm making it and I'm the one that's adding the ingredients. I get to say what goes in and what does not go in, and I can try to make it a very a healthier version of cooking what I would normally probably get. So that's one thing I love about baking and I'm one of those people that I'll try it. I'll try it. Some things are not necessarily good. That's why I say I'm not a baker. I just love to have fun and try different things, and I think the beautiful thing about life is that we don't have to be perfect at everything, but we can definitely explore and try new things.

Mikita:

So if you're in this phase of your life where you're just trying to be very, you know you're working on your creativity. Creativity can come in so many different ways. You don't have to be a person that can draw or paint or, you know, make music. Even podcasting is creative, Writing is creative. Baking and cooking is an amazing creative experience where you're creating your own recipes, you're experimenting with what works for you, what tastes good, mixing flavors All of those things are so beautiful.

Mikita:

And as you go through this next journey, as you think about your next step, I want you to really reflect and sit with yourself and think about the things that bring you the most joy and happiness and how you can incorporate more of that into your daily life. How can you take all these things that bring you joy and bring them into your life in a consistent basis? What would that look like? How would that feel for you? And you know it doesn't all have to happen at once. Sometimes, if you're like me, I'm one of those people that once I think it, I feel like I need to put it into action and all needs to be done right then and there. But it doesn't have to. And as I learn to go with the flow, I'm learning to put little pieces in at a time and see how that works. And you may have to change things, and it's okay. Pull some things back, add a little different things in and just continue to immerse yourself in the experience of living life, because we are all emotional beings, we're all creative beings and I feel like I am at my best the more creative I am. I found I have more joy when I am able to create, to tap into that other side of me. That's not so serious, that is fun, that is playful, that just is okay with not being perfect, but just enjoying it. So what I want to leave with you today is that joy looks different for all of us.

Mikita:

I remember my mom calling me. It was a year ago and she said I just wake up every morning just so joyful. I've never felt like this before. I am so happy and I just I'm very thankful that I can wake up every morning and feel joy. It was the first time that I heard my mom say that and it just kind of stuck with me that in all her 70 years of life, this is the first time she's woke up every day in this past year or two with a sense of joy, a sense of love, because when we have joy, we have love, we have gratitude. You know, we have this huge capacity for compassion, for empathy for others. And I just started thinking about all that entails to have joy and I started thinking about the things that bring me joy and I'm like man, she's found the key to life here and I'm like wow, it took her a long time, but she's happy. And it made me feel good because I knew that my mom was happy, she had found her joy and her happiness. She had found her joy and her happiness, and she knew how to tap into that joy and happiness whenever she needed to find that sense of gratitude on those days when find that joy.

Mikita:

Once you find that on the days that are not so good, that don't go so great, you can start to tap into that, to pull from that, to lean into that a little bit more as a reminder so you can fill yourself up with love, so you can fill yourself up with gratitude, because when we start going through the idea of gratitude, it fills us with love, it fills us with a sense of joy and in return, we can show that compassion to the people around us, we can be more understanding, we can have more patience.

Mikita:

All right, you guys, that is all the tea that I have to spill today. Of course, this is a very short episode because, as I said, I'm trying to wrap everything up and getting ready for this big move and just this next chapter in my life. And I know that as you sit and think about where you're at right now and you're thinking about your next chapter, your next season, your next moment, your next move, that you do so with a sense of joy, of gratitude, and remember to just continue to flow and not try to control everything, but to be present in the moment and to hold some compassion and space for yourself, for the person that you are today, and know that you are working on becoming the person that you want to be in the future. All right, my friends, until next time, namaste.
